Air Conditioners, Velveeta, Digital Pianos Recalled
A number of consumer products have been recalled in the last week, including products from Trane, Kraft Foods, and Roland.
Trane XB300 and American Standard Silver SI Air Conditioning Systems
Trane U.S. Inc. has recalled 100,600 outdoor air conditioning units, covering 37 models of Trane XB300 and American Standard brand Silver SI split system outdoor air conditioning units. The ground screws used in some of the affected units do not have the threads required to provide sufficient grounding, posing a shock hazard, according to the Consumer Product Safety Commission.
The 37 affected models are grey with a black grated front. They were sold between February 2010 and March 2014 for between $890 and $1,000 at independent distributors and dealers throughout the U.S. The affected models were manufactured in Mexico, and a full list of model numbers is available here.
If you own a recalled model, immediately turn it off via the main breaker switch. Contact Trane by calling (888) 732-7561, visit the website, or contact your local service dealer for a free inspection and repair.
Velveeta Original Pasteurized Recipe Cheese Product
Kraft Foods has recalled 260 cases of Velveeta Cheese Product due to a lack of sorbic acid, a preservative. Without appropriate levels of sorbic acid, the product can spoil prematurely and lead to foodborne illness.
The affected cases were produced in one batch of one manufacturing line and shipped to three Walmart distribution centers. The affected Velveeta was then redistributed to up to 12 Midwest states, including Colorado, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Michigan, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, South Dakota, and Wisconsin.
Only packages marked with Case Code 10021000611611 are affected (the number can be found on the side of the package). If you have an affected product, return it to the store for an exchange or full refund. Contact Kraft Food Consumer Relations at 1-800-310-3704 for additional information.
Roland Digital Pianos
Roland Corporation has recalled more than 600 model RD-800 electronic pianos due to a shock hazard. In these models, the AC power cord can be connected to the XLR output jacks, creating the possibility of electric shock.
The affected keyboards are 55 inches wide, 14.5 inches deep, and 5.5 inches high with an LCD display in the center. They were sold between January and April 2014 for about $3,000 at American Musical Supply Inc., Cascio Interstate, Full Compass Systems Ltd, Guitar Center Inc., Kraft Keyboard Center, Musicians Friend Inc., Sam Ash Inc., and Sweetwater Sound Inc. stores nationwide from January 2014 to April 2014.
The serial number can be found on the right side of the back of the piano between the XLR output and AC IN connector, and the following ranges are affected: Z6D0015 to Z6D0019, Z7D0174 to Z7D0423, Z8D1 056 to Z8D1255, and Z9D2131 to Z9D2333.
Owners should stop using the piano and unplug the power cord from the outlet. Contact Roland at (877) 339-5494 or locate an authorized dealer or service center to have the repair kit installed.
