Turkey Meatballs Recalled Due to Misbranding
On October 30, 2015, Joseph Epstein Food Enterprises recalled gluten-free turkey meatball products due to a misbranding issue. This New Jersey establishment recalled an outstanding 190 pounds of meatball products after it was discovered that the product was labeled as “gluten-free,” which was actually found to be untrue.
Here are some details on the product:
- Establishment number P-21734 inside the USDA mark of inspection
- Contain product code 4740
- Expiration date of 12/10/15
During the product’s laboratory testing, it was found that there was excess of the maximum allowable 20 ppm of gluten. Luckily, there have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions due to consumption. If there have been illness concerns, a consumer should contact a healthcare provider. If you believe you own this product, it is in your best interest to throw them away and do not consume them. Organic Edamame Recalled
On October 30, 2015, Giant and Martin’s alerted costumers of a voluntary recall of Nature’s Promise Organic Edamame. They removed the product because they contain soy, regardless of the fact that it is not listen on the ingredient label. So far, Giant and Martin’s hasn’t received reports of illnesses up to this date. However, there are some serious risks that can come with consuming soy if you have an allergic reaction. If you have a food allergy to soy, symptoms will typically appear within a few minutes to two hours after ingestion. Reactions can include hives, itchy sensation in the mouth, coughing or wheezing, dizziness, swelling of the throat, difficulty breathing, and loss of consciousness.
If you have purchased this product, you should discard the unused portions and bring your purchase receipt to Giant or Martin’s for a full refund. If you have information on the recall, you should call Customer Service art 1-888-814-4268.
Canned Albacore Tuna Products Recalled Due to Health Risk
On October 30, 2015, Farmer Creek issued a voluntary recall on canned Albacore tuna products due to a possible health risk that deals with the possibility of being contaminated with Clostridium botulinum, which is a bacterium that can cause life-threatening illness or even death. Even if the product doesn’t look or smell spoiled, consumers should not use the product regardless.
If you receive botulism, you could experience weakness, dizziness, double vision, difficulty in breathing, swallowing difficulties, or weakening of muscles. If you experience these symptoms, you should always seek immediate medical attention.
