Teacups, Ski Boots, Children’s Pajamas Recalled

A number of companies have issued product recalls in recent weeks due to consumer safety risks. For more information about recalled products or other ongoing recalls, visit the government recall website.

Urban Outfitters Teacups

Urban Outfitters has recalled approximately 13,370 ceramic teacups due to consumer safety risks. The teacups are labeled as microwave-safe, but if microwaved, the gold paint accents can spark, posing a fire hazard.

The recalled items are known as “Cheeky” teacups, which came in four styles of six-ounce teacups. The cups are decorated with floral motifs, gold painted accents, and one of four phrases (including “booze” and “more whiskey please”) on the inside or outside rim of the cup. They were sold at Urban Outfitters stores nationwide between August 2014 and January 2015 for about $16.

Urban Outfitters has received one report to date of a teacup sparking in the microwave. Consumers should stop using the recalled teacups immediately and contact Urban Outfitters at (800) 282-2200 or online for instructions on returning the product for a refund.

SCARPA Ski Boots with Tronic System

SCARPA North America Inc. has recalled approximately 2,300 F1 EVO ski boots with Tronic system components. The Tronic system can unexpectedly switch from ski mode to walk mode, not allowing the boots to release from the binding, posing a risk of falls and injuries.

The affected boots have Tronic system components, which allow the boot to lock into the ski binding. The recalled boots were sold in royal blue and aqua blue, with the model name F1 EVO printed on the upper right side of the ankle cuff. They were sold at authorized SCARPA dealers and retailers throughout the U.S. and Canada, including Oregon Mountain Community, REI, and Skimo Co. They were sold between October 2014 and January 2015 for about $700.

SCARPA has received two reports from consumers who suffered torn knee ligaments after the boots locked into the binding and caused them to fall. Consumers should stop using the recalled boots immediately and contact SCARPA at (866) 998-2895 or online for instructions on obtaining a refund.

K.J. Sportswear Pajamas

K.J. Sportswear California has recalled about 9,200 children’s pajama sets because they do not meet federal flammability requirements, posing a burn injury risk to children.

The pajama sets feature Thor lettering and images, and they came in one-piece and two-piece styles. The pajamas were sold in sizes 6 to 12 months, 12 to 18 months, 18 to 24 months, and up through youth large. This recall includes both pajama styles with these tracking numbers on the back of the neck label: 728141, 995755, 995756, 995757 and 995758. They were sold at authorized Thor motocross retailers nationwide from June 2013 through December 2014 for between $30 and $45.
